sculpture

materials: Twin Cities ash (whitened), petrified wood from the Black Hills of SD, wool yarn

This sculpture is loosely inspired by native dream catchers. As I have a fairly strong Lakota background (my mom is a member of the Oglala Sioux of South Dakota), I have been around and facinated by dream catchers my whole life. I think of Ghost Shepherd as a gift and night-light for my late father, Sam Hoffart. Something to help him along his way, where ever he is. Something pretty to hold. To care for. To tend. Something for his hands, from mine.
